GINTL events aim to develop a global network based on the value of mutually beneficial collaboration for sustainable partnerships. GINTL events create a space for researchers, other academics, students, educators and others who may be interested, to learn from one another and work together to understand the current challenges in education and co-develop solutions respectful to local needs.

As India sets about implementing the provisions outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP, 2020), a massive nation-wide reform across all levels of education, there is hope and excitement, and at the same time angst, confusion and frustration. The policy, with its “revolutionary” reforms, envisages far-reaching transformations in the Indian education System, including an increased focus on early and foundational stages, reforming the existing exam system, strengthening teacher training and restructuring the framework of school education, amongst many other promising recommendations.

Welcome to the ninth event of the webinar series “Dialogues on education and society”, co-organised by the GINTL and the Sino-Finnish Education Research Centre (SFERC) of Sino-Finnish Joint Learning Innovation Institute (JoLII). In the webinar, the speakers Jyrki Kallio (Finnish Institute of International Affairs, FIIA) and Xiaoyang Wang (Capital Normal University) will share how certain aspects of education were understood in the ancient Confucian texts and tradition. In addition, they will reflect how those understandings are connected to present-day expressions concerning the purpose of education in China. The speakers and chair Baocun Liu (Beijing Normal University) will also reflect what the modern higher education could learn and adopt from the Confucian tradition.

The Sino-Finnish JoLii Global conference 2022 is planned to be held on 28–29 November 2022. The host university is South-West University in China. Please find the call for abstracts proposal from attached file. The conference will focus on future perspectives of teacher development. GINTL India & NCI Winter School 2022: Strengthening children’s and teachers’ social and emotional skills

Main topic: Indo-Finnish Collaboration
GINTL India & Nordic Centre in India organise a week long (2 hours a day) Winter School on 28 November - 2 December that provides insights on children's and teachers' social and emotional skills. During the week Finnish and Indian experts share about their research and experiences to Finnish and Indian upcoming teachers and in-service teachers. Winter school is open for all master's level students, degree and non-degree, who are interested in social and emotional skills in the educational context. Winter school is organised completely online and participants can choose to join the programme each day or pick the most interesting sessions.
